Taiwan-born defender Jeremy Lin will almost certainly play for the Golden State Warriors in the 2020/21 NBA season with only a few final procedures left.
According to the reporter Shams Charania of The Athletic announced, Jeremy Lin has only a few final procedures to officially become a member of the Golden State Warriors. Accordingly, as long as the Chinese Basketball Federation confirms that Lin is no longer a person of Beijing Ducks, the Taiwan-born defender will return to the NBA after a season of absence.
Lin will sign Exhibit 10 for a year, which means he only trained with the Warriors’ first-team and G-League team. If the 32-year-old performs well, the contract will be converted into a two-way contract, allowing him to both play in the NBA and G-League.
The Golden State Warriors was Jeremy Lin’s first team in the NBA. He was not selected for the 2010 Draft and signed with the California football team. He was cut off in 2011 and moved to the New York Knicks, before shining with the famous Linsanity stage.
Lin suffered serious career injuries and was no longer interested in NBA teams. He was featured in the Toronto Raptors 2019 championship roster, but made little contribution. After being crowned, the Taiwanese-born player was not offered a contract by any club.
He decided to save his career by going to China to play for Beijing Ducks at the Chinese Major. He took his home team to the CBA Semi-Finals and only lost to the Guangdong Southern Tigers, which then took the championship. After a season, the 32-year-old defender decided to return to the US, saying that the environment in China was too violent.
Before this year’s season began, Jeremy Lin trained with Steph Curry. The two have a close relationship after playing together in the 2010-11 season. After Shaun Livingston retired, Golden State also lacked an experienced dribbling defender on the bench.
The arrival of Jeremy Lin will also increase the economic value of the Golden State Warriors, as he can bring the team multiple sponsorship deals from Asia. They are also the team that has to pay the highest tax in the tournament so they need to improve their financial situation.
